Chief Executive Officer Recruitment

Welcome from Rosie Cooper, Chair

Thank you for your interest in this exceptional opportunity to become the new Chief Executive Officer of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.   I hope that you will enjoy exploring this microsite to discover more about our journey, our vision, our Just culture, our achievements and our commitment to the people that we serve.

This exciting role comes at an interesting time in our evolution. The CQC has rated us outstanding for being well led, and outstanding for being caring, so you will be leading an excellent team of committed individuals all striving to deliver perfect care across our communities. We are one of the largest trusts providing mental and physical health services in England, with an annual income of over £700m, over 11,000 dedicated staff serving more than 1.4 million people, operating across over 230 sites with a vast range of services including specialist inpatient and community services that support physical and mental health and specialist inpatient mental health, learning disabilities, addictions and brain injuries services. We are also one of only three trusts in the UK that provide high secure mental health facilities.

Our Unitary Board has strong shared values which provide the strength and mutual trust to deal with crucial decisions and put the recipients of our services at the centre of everything we do.  Our ‘super six’ strategic intentions outline our focus on excellence for patients, staff and partners as well as our commitment to maximising the opportunities that data, technology, research and innovation can provide for improvement in outcomes and experience. We are a key partner within the Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care System where we are working together to reduce the inequalities that continue to exist in our workforce and populations.

Our outgoing Chief Executive Officer Professor Joe Rafferty CBE has provided inspiring leadership to the Trust over a dedicated 12 years of service and during a period of rapid, successful and sustained growth.  We are now seeking to consolidate our broad portfolio and work with our dedicated staff on the front line to ensure services are as accessible, effective and efficient as possible; working closely with our partners to continue to integrate our services and focus on the reduction of health inequalities across our populations.

To build on this strong platform, we are seeking a visionary, passionate, open and inclusive Chief Executive Officer with a track record of delivery.  Outcome focused and patient-centred in all your decisions; you will be experienced in working in collaboration across the workforce and with partners and patients to deliver solutions that meet complex needs and reduce inequalities.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a large, complex and successful organisation into a new phase of our development as a key partner within our Integrated Care System.  We would love to hear from experienced, strategic leaders who can inspire our dedicated teams and enhance our future vision.  In return we can promise a rewarding and career defining role that will allow you to use and develop your full range of leadership qualities to change lives for the better.

I look forward to meeting you during the process.
